Project Life 2012-Week One

One week down, 51 to go!  I had fun organizing my first Project Life layout.  Although, creating this layout made me realize I need want to shop.

So here it is...

Eek! I'm 29+1!

I can't believe it.  I am no longer in my twenties.  I was fine with it until about 3 months ago.  I think the hardest part for me is that I am still in such a transitioning point in my life.  I thought that by the time I was 30 more of my life would be figured out and I would have more of a direction with my future.
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot in my life to be proud of, but I am a planner by nature and I don't know what will be going on in my life five years from now.  But, the more I think about it, does anyone really know?!?

I celebrated my birthday by going to a crop at Pages in Time on Friday and Saturday.  Friday my mom and Cristen came with me.  Then Saturday I scrapped with my mom and Casey.

Then on Sunday (my actual bday) I went over to my parents house for dinner with the family and our special cakes.  My mom made chocolate mousse cake for me (with candles picked out by my dad) and ice cream cake for Jason.
(oh no the big 30)

Scrapfreak Mojo Monday - My List

Over at {Scrapfreak} we are starting up a new weekly prompt, {Mojo Monday}.  Each Monday there will be a new prompt focused on getting you to scrap your everyday life.  So often we spend so much time scrapping about the big events that happen in our lives that we forget about the everyday happenings that really make up our lives.  Everybody has one birthday, 3 or 4 major holidays, and maybe some school events.  What about the other 350+ days out of the year?  How are you scrapping those things?

The first MM of each month is a list, designed to get you documenting more of the little details of your everyday life. We encourage you to blog, journal or share your list here so you can scrap it later!

This week's list: What's In Your Car?

We spend a lot of time in our vehicles and you can often tell a lot about a person by what is in their car. Kids? Organized? Multi-tasker? What is in your car RIGHT NOW? What does that say about your life?

For those of you that have been in my car, this may come as a shock to you...

MY CAR IS CLEAN!
I know, that hardly ever happens.  So, for this list I can actually write what is in my car and I actually KNOW what is in there.

1. carseat
2. my phone charger
3. Lou's phone charger
4. bass fishing book
5. Nicholas Sparks book
6. Julia's lion
7. snow brush/ice scraper
8. a package that needs to go to the PO for Monica
9. a few bits of random paper and receipts in the console
10. a water bottle

I have decided that I will blog my MM lists.  That way I have them on hand so I can either make a LO about them down the road or I can add them to my Project Life album if I have space in a week.

Friday Fill-ins (on Saturday)

1. Discussions about how to spend our tax money have already started and we haven't even filed yet.
2. Kiss two naps a day goodbye.
3. I think it's time to put focus on my health.
4. Cuddling with my baby and my doggy puts a smile on my face.
5. Maybe sometime I will be caught up with housework and it will stay that way.
6. Seeing my minor accomplishments on my long journey of schooling gives me strength.
7. And as for the weekend, Friday I went to the Meijer Gardens with Julia, my mom and Kacie followed by dinner at Florentines with Kacie and Julia, tomorrow my plans included going for a run with the dog and scrapping and Sunday, I want to Skype with Bree while I scrap and work on Project Life!

Project Life 2012

{Project Life} was created by Becky Higgins to take a new approach the scrapbooking.  I think she explains it best when she says, "Project Life is a back-to-basics approach to memory-keeping. This simple format requires no skill - only your pictures and a pen. No one's life is perfect but everyone has a story and every family has a collection of memories. Putting pictures + stories together in Project Life makes us more aware of our blessings and encourages us to cultivate a good life."

I love the idea that with this project I can do as little or as much as I want with each picture and journaling card.  Because I love to work with paper, I know that my finished project will be a little more than just the basics, but it doesn't have to be.

This is my first year taking on Project Life.  At first I wasn't sure if it was a project for me.  I mean, scrapping everyday life is totally what I love, but recording so much of my life and dedicating time to a year long project are not my strong suits!  After talking with some of my friends at {Scrapfreak} that are doing the project, I decided that I would give it a try!

I went with the {Clementine Core Kit} and made my own mix of page protectors (I'm using design a, b, c and d).  The core kit is packed FULL of title cards and journaling cards!  So, my friend {Kristin} suggested that we swap half of out kits.  This works out perfectly because she purchased the {Colbalt Core Kit} and I was having a hard time deciding between the two.  Now I don't have to!

I will be working at creating a two page layout for every week of 2012.  There are several of us working on this project over at {Scrapfreak}, you can check out what we are working on {here}!

2012-The New Year Begins

Last year was a good one for me overall. While there were little stumbling blocks, the things that really matter were great!

Julia is a happy 20 month old little girl. She is so busy, but watching her learn and grow makes the exhaustion worth it!

Lou and I have now been together for 7 years 8 months and married for 1 year 3 months. It still makes me laugh when I think about how upset I was that my brother was hanging out with him.

We have been in our house since the middle of July. I love having our own home for our family. We still have a lot of work to do to put our touches on it, but that's small compared to the feeling of having a place to call my own.

Hexe is doing great. Her separation anxiety is getting better. She knows now that we always come home. I love watching her with Julia. She gets annoyed with her, but just puts up with her. Julia loves having her puppy. She is so excited to play with her everyday.

I have made a few new friends this year. After being in school for three years, I met someone I have a lot in common with, including a toddler. I'm glad Julia and I met Cristen and Oliver. I also started a moms meetup group that has helped us to get out of the house and do new things.

Finally, one HUGE thing in my life, I have graduated from GRCC with my Associates of Arts!!! I am so excited to be finished with the first leg of my schooling journey.

All in all, 2011 was a great year. I am looking forward to getting 2012 going. I have great things coming. I just know it!
